Terry entered the wine world in 2018 and brings a strong hospitality background, including years bartending in Chicago and working in restaurants. He started at Apolloni before joining Amaterra, where he especially enjoys barreling down and the aromas of new oak. His favorite wines tell a story—like the blueberry-forward 2016 51Weeks Winemaking Petit Verdot he once poured during pre-opening tours. When not in the vineyard or cellar, Terry is usually in the garden or playing music, often pairing his fresh-from-the-garden pizza with a Rosé of Pinot Noir.

Harvest experience
Meet David from the wine production team! David’s passion for wine began during an immersive study abroad program in Tuscany, Italy, which inspired him to enter the wine industry in 2018. After completing his first two harvests in Napa Vallet, he worked in the tasting room at Battle Creek Cellars before joining the Amaterra team in 2022. His winemaking journey has taken him around the world, including an incredible experience in 2024, working a harvest in North Canterbury, New Zealand. Now approaching his seventh vintage, David remains dedicated to learning and growing within the industry. Outside of his love for wine, David is an avid Duck fan, having grown up in Eugene and graduating from the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business. He loves traveling and being outdoors, as well as trying new restaurants, playing golf, and spending time with his girlfriend, Valentina.

Come visit and taste the wines David has worked hard on making over the years!
From the base of our estate Swede Hill Vineyard, the view is as breathtaking as the season itself. Pinot Noir clusters soak up their final rays of sunshine, gaining those last touches of ripeness before harvest begins in a week or so.

We named this vineyard Swede Hill to honor the Swedish immigrants who once farmed and cared for this land long before Amaterra was built. Their legacy of stewardship continues to inspire every vine we tend today.

We’re currently serving our 2021 vintage of Swede Hill at our Portland tasting room and you can enjoy the Swede Hill grapes blended into our 2021 Willamette Valley blend at our Bend location. Come visit and have a taste!
Harvest is in motion, and the production crew is in the beginning stages of their busiest time of year! Trucks are backing into our driveway to drop off grapes almost daily, fermentations are beginning to take off and bubble with energy. In the cellar, barrels are being moved around to make room for what’s still to come.

Every pump-over, press, and barrel move is part of the rhythm of harvest — a season where precision, teamwork, and passion turn fruit into the wines you’ll be sipping on in the years ahead.

Come visit us and cheers to the magic of harvest!
Step into the heart of our winery during the most vibrant season of the year. The air is alive with the aromas of freshly crushed grapes and fermentations in motion — and we’re inviting you to be part of it.

Alongside our winemaking team, you’ll not only observe the artistry of production, but actively participate: learning about fermentation, participating “punch downs” and exploring our winery and its barrel rooms. This is your chance to help craft the very wines you’ll enjoy in the years to come.

The evening culminates with a feast on the terrace — a whole pig roast, seasonal dishes, and wines that celebrate the spirit of harvest.
